About Us

We call Texas home but we do not limit our services to the Houston area. We have clients in many cities around the state of Texas and other parts of the country from Colorado to Florida. We also have many projects out of the country with the focus on Cabo San Lucas but also in the Bahamas, Cancun, etc.

The frigatebird's scientific name is Fregata. Frigatebirds are a family of seabirds called Fregatidae which are found across all tropical and subtropical oceans. The five extant species are classified in a single genus, Fregata. All have predominantly black plumage, long, deeply forked tails and long hooked bills.

The Cabo Connection…

It was a beautiful day in Cabo San Lucas, the sun was shining, the water was calm, and the tuna were biting. I was on a fishing trip with a friend and we were having a great time. We had caught several fish and were heading back to the marina when something unexpected happened. It is common for sea birds to follow you in but this day we noticed a majestic frigatebird hovering behind the boat.

Frigatebirds are magnificent creatures that are known for their impressive wingspan and speed. They are often seen soaring through the sky with effortless grace and agility, making them a symbol of freedom and power. Fishermen use frigatebirds to help locate schools of tuna, frigatebirds and tuna often have a symbiotic relationship where the birds follow the tuna and feed on the same fish that the tuna are hunting. By looking for frigatebirds flying above the water, fishermen can sometimes find schools of tuna swimming below.

Our first mate held a small bait fish in his hand and the frigatebird swooped down and snatched it right out of his hand. We were all amazed by the bird's speed and agility even though it had about a six foot wingspan, it left us in awe and I grabbed the perfect “shot on iPhone” moment!

Over the next few weeks, I couldn't stop thinking about the frigatebird and its impressive skills. I began to think about how I could incorporate this experience into our business, a home and maritime technology company that I had been working on. And so FREGATAS was born, a company dedicated to making homes and yachts smarter and more efficient through cutting-edge technology. Our logo features a frigate bird in flight, symbolizing our commitment to speed, agility, and efficiency in providing solutions to our clients.

That day on the fishing trip not only provided us with a fun and exciting experience but also sparked the creativity that led to the creation of our successful business, FREGATAS. And whenever we see a frigatebird soaring in the sky, we are reminded of the inspiration that led us to where we are today.
